Barton Peveril Sixth Form College is proud to celebrate the achievements of former student Uel Ibekwe, who has recently published her debut book Luna, a fictional fantasy novel aimed at teenage and adult readers.
During her time at Barton Peveril, Uel studied Psychology and Graphic Communication, both of which played a significant role in shaping Luna. Her Psychology studies influenced the depth and development of the novel’s characters and themes, while her Graphic Communication course helped inform key aspects of the book’s visual design, including layout and presentation.
Uel said “One of the subjects I studied at Barton Peveril that most influenced my creative process while writing Luna was Psychology, because it allowed me to critically analyse my characters, plan their mental changes comprehensively, and provide depth when I was writing their different perspectives.”

Uel is currently studying for a BA undergraduate degree in Game Design at the University of Hull, a subject choice inspired by the Extended Project Qualification she completed during her time at Barton Peveril.
Uel achieved an A* in her EPQ, where she developed strong research, writing and independent study skills. Her chosen project brief was to produce a piece of long-form writing exploring the question “To What Extent Do Videogame Soundtracks Psychologically Impact The Mind?” This experience helped strengthen her long-form writing abilities and contributed to the development and completion of Luna.

The College is delighted to see former students applying the skills and creativity developed at Barton Peveril to professional and academic success beyond their studies. Barton Peveril congratulates Uel on this impressive achievement and wishes her every success for the future. Luna is now available to purchase on Amazon.
