Barton Peveril: Leading the Way in AI-Powered Education

Barton Peveril College recently hosted an event to discuss Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education, bringing together educators, technologists, and industry leaders. Guests included leaders from Academy Trusts, secondary schools and organisations such as the Department of Education, Google’s Head of Education (Europe), BCS Education (The Chartered Institute for Education), Applied Data Science Partners (ADSP), Teck UK, C-Learning and OCR.

The conference included Barton Peveril showcasing how AI can be utilised to streamline and enhance administrative services within educational institutions. Attendees also engaged in discussions around the development of a cross-phase (14-18) AI literacy qualification so that they can equip students with essential skills for the future. The creation of a Self Advisory Group was explored, which would enable the sharing of knowledge and experiences among educators, exam boards and technology companies.

Highlights of the conference included a demonstration of an AI-powered marking tool, offering a glimpse into the future of assessment and a keynote address by Dame Wendy Hall.

Rob Temple, Principal of Barton Peveril, said:

Given the transformative potential of AI, and the inherent risks and opportunities this presents to schools and colleges, it is important to hear from a range of perspectives who can help us shape how best to support students and colleagues. By harnessing AI’s potential correctly, we can personalise learning, enhance teaching, reduce staff workload and better prepare our students for the future.

Barton Peveril College continues to lead the way in exploring and implementing innovative technologies to enhance the educational experience for its students and staff.
