Barton Peveril Signs Exclusive 5-Year Collaboration with Google Cloud, Google for Education and SoftwareOne

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College is proud to announce an exclusive 5-year collaboration with Google Cloud, Google for Education and SoftwareOne, an agreement that will see the College officially recognised as a Google Cloud Reference College, joining an elite global network of institutions at the forefront of digital learning.

This collaboration marks a major leap forward in Barton Peveril’s digital strategy and modernisation of its IT infrastructure. Under the agreement, all on-site servers will be migrated to Google Cloud’s platform by August 2025. This migration will significantly enhance cyber resilience, streamline operations, and deliver long-term financial efficiencies through strategic and centralised procurement.

Commenting on the collaboration, John Gallant Head of Education for Google Cloud in the UK & Ireland said: “Barton Peveril has been very clear from the outtake, that this is about a bold transformation for the future of digital learning at the College. We are thrilled to be working with the team on this journey and to see what their staff and students will accomplish with our tools and support.”

The collaboration further supports the College’s growing work with Google’s advanced family of AI models, Gemini, and other AI enabled tools and technologies, positioning Barton Peveril as a national leader in the integration of emerging technologies in education.

Robert Ellis, Education Lead at SoftwareOne, commented: “I was immediately impressed by the vision of the team at Barton. Chris Loveday and Charlie Davis partnered with SoftwareOne to help deliver their Google Strategy, and from the outset, their thought leadership in education stood out. They focused on enhancing security amid rising risks in the sector, leveraging AI to drive efficiency and cost savings during a time of financial constraint for Education, and improving scalability to meet growing demands. It’s been a pleasure collaborating with them on this journey.”

“This is an exciting collaboration that will guarantee our ability to continue providing exceptional resources and opportunities for our students,” said Rob Temple, Principal of Barton Peveril.

Barton Peveril continues to lead the way in embedding technology across the curriculum, and this new collaboration sets a powerful precedent for what is possible in the sixth form sector.
