Barton Peveril Cricket Team Win Altham Trophy

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College Cricket team have won the Altham Trophy at King Edward’s School.

The Barton Peveril Cricket team in partnership with the Hampshire County Cricket Club have completed their first season, walking away as the winning team at King Edward’s School for the first time since 2004. In the semi-final, Barton Peveril Sixth Form College knocked out Peter Symonds College by 50 runs. Then played Farnborough in the final game, bowling first and restricted Farnborough to 111 runs from their 20 overs. The Barton Peveril team achieved to chase the runs down for the of 4 wickets and with 6 overs to spare.

On Monday 26th June, The Barton Peveril team succeeded in winning against King Edward’s School in a 40 over match.

The following Barton Peveril students have ended their first season with the following achievements:

Tom Clark – Top run scorer (501)Darryn Stares – Top Wicket Taker (15)Jenson Bishops – Most Catches (7)

Recruitment is very strong for next year so the future of the programme looks bright.  We are also confident we will be able to field a women’s cricket team for the first time next year, to go alongside a full XV women’s rugby team!
