Barton Peveril Host Careers in Business and Law Event

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College hosted its inaugural Careers in Business and Law event between 4th and 6th July 2022.

The event welcomed industry professionals and academics from across the business and law sectors, giving students at the Hampshire-based College an insight into the career pathways open to them after their studies.

Amongst those in attendance were IBM, Bank of England, West Quay, Solent University, University of Law, University of Football Business and BDO Global.

Across the event, students participated in lectures and workshops both as part of their business, economics and law lessons and as part of the Q-XTRA enrichment programme.

“Truly inspirational”

Speaking on the event, Barton Peveril Sixth Form College Careers Manager, Shoonagh Hubble, said:

‘This event was a great way for our students to gain insights into the enormous range of degrees and careers available relating to Business and Law. The universities and employers involved made the sessions really engaging – using true crime case studies, interactive workshops and critical analysis they really brought their subjects alive for the students. Thank you to all those who took part for a truly inspirational few days!’

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College Director of Business and Law, Karen Roberts, added:

‘Thank you to the universities and employers who ran such inspiring sessions this week. Our students were shown how to prepare for assessment centres and interviews. They heard about the varied career journeys of our guests. They were introduced to the role of the Bank of England and the outlook for the UK Economy. They were made aware of the opportunities and threats of cryptocurrencies. The talks encouraged our students to aim high, work hard and plan their futures.’
