Barton Peveril Netball players make National Team

Barton Peveril Students have earnt a place on the Association of Colleges (AoC) England Colleges Netball Squad, after completing a two day trial process.

Students Jenna Barrable (formerly of Cams Hill School) and Izzy Pearce (formerly of The Mountbatten School), who play for the Barton Peveril Womens 1st Netball Team, were invited to the two-day trials that took place in Wolverhampton in November, and they secured their position in the squad, alongside just 20 other players.

Pearce, a First Year Sports Extended Diploma student, plays Netball in the Dreams Under 19 Regional team, alongside being in the Barton Peveril Womens 1st Netball team. She hopes to use her place in the AoC team to help her become a professional netball player.
She spoke about the trials:

“The trials were challenging with 35 quality shooters from colleges all over the country, I was very proud to gain a place and I look forward to representing Barton Peveril in the squad”.

Barrable, a Second Year student, also plays for the Swan Netball Regional Under 19 team. She is seeing where Netball takes her and is looking forward to playing at a higher level:

“It was a privilege to get put forward for the trial and I cannot wait to compete at national level, whilst also representing Barton.”

The Coach of the Barton Peveril 1st Netball team, Sonja Payne, congratulated the women:

“I am absolutely delighted that Jenna and Izzy have been selected for the England Colleges National Netball Squad. It is a credit to their netball abilities and development at college over the last year and a half as well their supported development in their respective clubs. Barton Peveril netball has been thriving of late with qualification for the regional round of National schools in January 2023 where both Izzy and Jenna are an integral part of our fantastic team.”

The women will play in the AoC team once a month, with the first game taking place in Sunderland on December 10th.
