Barton Peveril students performed 9 to 5: The Musical at The Point, Eastleigh, on 24th, 25th and 26th April 2019. Guests from the local community and local schools attended both evening and matinee performances.

The production was based on the hit 1980s film 9 to 5, which starred Dolly Parton and Jane Fonda and sees a group of female employees overthrow their tyrannical male boss. This was second year Performing Arts: Musical Theatre students’ final production together, before they leave college in the summer. The students formed two casts, stage crew and a band who performed live music throughout the duration of the show.

Speaking on the production and her students, Subject Leader for Performing Arts: Musical Theatre Anneka Wass said:

“The production was a huge success and all the students were fantastic, putting on a large number of shows and adapting to a different venue. This was the culmination of two years’ hard work and the students should all be very proud.”

Former Brookfield Community School pupil Emily Bennett commented on the production: “I loved performing in 9 to 5, the show was such an amazing experience to be a part of and I am so proud of my talented classmates. Thank you so much to Barton Peveril and our incredible teachers for providing us with this opportunity.”
