Barton Peveril’s Choral Christmas Concert Returns

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College students performed in their annual Choral Concert at Romsey Abbey on Tuesday 7th December, 2021. This is the first time the annual event has been able to take place, since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The students were conducted by composer and conductor Alexander L’Estrange  and joined by Wyvern Community Choir and local school pupils from The Mountbatten School, Wyvern College and Swanmore College.

During the event, the Concert Band played a medley of songs from popular films including Indiana Jones, Harry Potter and E.T. before the Choir showcased Alexander L’Estrange’s Freedom! to friends, family, and local residents in the Abbey.

Barton Peveril Teacher of Music Gary Williams said:

‘The concert was a wonderful show of both vocal and instrumental talent, as well as a great opportunity for all the musicians to work on, and perform a piece composed and directed by a contemporary composer.’

Alexander L’Estrange said:

‘I have always been, and continue to be, amazed by the quality and ambition and professionalism of the music and performing arts departments at BP. Led by some truly inspirational teachers who expect the very best, the results are always amazing. The choir, the band, and also the musical theatre students I worked with were terrific, and I can’t wait for our next collaboration!’
