The Annual Barton Peveril Sixth Form College ‘One Night Only Dance Show’ returned to the Rose Theatre, to two sold-out audiences in May 2023.
The annual dance show, which took place this year on the 18th and 19th of May, showcases the talent, technique and artistic ability that the students have acquired and developed during the academic year. The performances has students on the A Level Dance course and the Dance Company Q-XTRA exhibit the pieces that they have been working on to two sold-out audiences of friends, family and members of the public. For Second-Year students, the dance show was a chance to celebrate their studies at Barton Peveril, adding to their portfolio before going on to prestigious Performing Arts schools/universities.

Q-XTRA is Barton Peveril’s enrichment program, which enables students to partake in activities outside of their general programme of study, ensuring that students leave the College with extracurricular enhancement.
The showcase took place in Barton Peveril’s own Rose Theatre, hosting the over 420 guests, and making use of the modern lighting and staging, which was renovated in 2021 at a cost of £1.35 Million.
Director of the dance show, and Subject Leader for Dance at Barton Peveril, Laura Agnew said:
It was a pleasure to watch our dancers take to the stage and perform with such passion and dedication for dance. For our first years it was amazing to watch the progress they have made in less than a year & for our second years it was emotional to see them perform for the last time at Barton. The shows were watched by a nearly 500 capacity audience and showcased curtain raisers from local dance companies and feeder schools, celebrating collaboration within the community. It was a delight to see so many talented dancers share the stage and a wonderful way to end the term.”
Lola Provan celebrated the Show’s success:
One Night Only was an amazing experience for all A Level dancers to show their talent and hard work throughout this year, it was a brilliant night where we all got to perform to an audience, which we love doing the most.”

Emily Holloway, First Year student studying Dance and Performing Arts: Musical Theatre at Barton Peveril, spoke about her time so far at the College:
So far my time on the A Level Dance course at Barton has been incredible due to the amount of amazing opportunities we are given, for example our One Night Only dance show. The preparation and lead up to our show was just as fun as the actual performance. We were able to experience things such as the technical side to our shows, having photos taken of our dances, rehearsing in costumes, and more. However my favourite part of our show was getting to work with my friends and our teachers to create something enjoyable that would leave us with wonderful memories.”
