Three Nations Boxing Champion

Barton Peveril student Taylor Bevan won the Great Britain Three Nations Boxing Championship at the Welsh Institute of Sport, Cardiff on Monday 6th May.

The former Wyvern College pupil represents Wales and trains at the Sport Wales National Centre in Cardiff. This victory comes after a very successful year for Barton Peveril student, who has won 18 out of 19 amateur fights.

The Championship sees the national champions from England, Scotland and Wales contest for the title of Great British Champion. Bevan won his in his category (Under 69kg Youth) beating the Scottish national champion in the Semi-final and the English national champion in the Final.

Speaking on Bevan’s success, Barton Peveril Director of Sport Luke Hampton said:

“This is a fantastic achievement from Taylor, who faced some very challenging opponents throughout the competition. Taylor continues to impress us with his dedication in and out of the classroom, as he’s set to achieve top grades whilst competing at international level, and is at the start of a very promising Boxing Career. We cannot wait to see what he accomplishes next!”

Bevan spoke on the competition and his hopes for the future:

“It felt amazing winning and was a bit of a relief as I’d already beaten the English Champion earlier in the season, so I’m happy I could prove myself again. I stuck to my game plan and came out on top. I’m now moving up a weight class, hopefully building up to the European Championship in September.”

Bevan now plans to move up to the 75kg Middleweight weight class during his off-season.
