Barton Peveril Students Visit the City of Love

Barton Peveril Students’ Paris Trip

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College English Language and Literature and French students embarked on a trip to Paris, France between Thursday 13th and Sunday 16th February 2020. The students were immersed in Parisian culture, which included travelling up the Eiffel Tower on Valentine’s Day and seeing a number of proposals at the iconic French landmark.

The Barton Peveril students followed a busy schedule, exploring the Eiffel Tower, an evening riverboat tour of the Seine, the Musée d’Orsay, the Champs-Élysées, and French cuisine in Paris’ many cafés and restaurants.

The trip immersed students in French culture, helping the English Language and Literature students better understand an anthology of French writing and the French students understand the Parisian way of life.

“An amazing trip”

Student Arran Godfrey, who previously attended Thornden School and studies French at Barton Peveril, commented on the trip:

“It was an amazing trip with great experiences and opportunities to learn about the history and also the language. I would definitely do this trip again if the chance arose – it’s an opportunity which shouldn’t be missed.”

Speaking on the trip, Subject Leader for English Language and Literature, Georgina Crooks, said:

“Our English and French trip to Paris enabled the students to immerse themselves in Parisian culture – its language, history and ambience.  The texts of our non-literary anthology about Paris were brought to life as we walked, took the metro and flew over the city of light.”
