Barton Peveril Teacher Awarded 2023 ERA Foundation David Clark Prize

Isabel Culmer, Teacher of Engineering and Computer Science, has been awarded the 2023 ERA foundation David Clark prize for outstanding teaching in the field of Engineering.

The ERA Foundation David Clark Prize recognises exceptional educators in the United Kingdom who have gone above and beyond in inspiring young people to consider engineering as a profession and career. 

The prize is awarded annually to two educators, one working in primary schools and one in secondary schools, colleges or UTCs. 

Isabel received a personal award as well as a further £12,000 for the College to use over three years to support the further development of engineering teaching. 

Isabel commented on winning this prize:

I am humbled to receive this prize. I am grateful for the opportunity to inspire and mentor the next generation of engineers. I aim to help students to develop a passion for engineering and give the skills they need to to make a positive difference to the world.”
