Barton Peveril’s Addams Family Spectacular

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College students performed their rendition of The Addams Family to two sell-out audiences of friends, family and local residents in the College’s Rose Theatre on Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th May 2022.

Students on the Performing Arts: Musical Theatre course took to the stage, recreating the hit-musical comedy as part of their work on the course. As well as performing in the show, students at the Hampshire-based College also managed the lighting and sound for the production.

This is one of a series of recent productions from Performing Arts students at the College, with Swan Lake, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Alice all being performed across this academic year. Students on this course will next take to the stage for their end of year show, bringing Beauty and the Beast alive to local audiences in July.

‘Greatest and funniest shows’

Speaking on the show, student Sam Ellyatt, who played Lurch, said:

‘The Addams Family was one of the greatest and funniest shows I’ve been apart of at Barton Peveril. We had amazing support from all of our teachers in the Performing Arts Department and felt so encouraged in all of our rehearsals and shows. Definitely an amazing way to round off our Second Year Musical Theatre course!’

Director of Vocational Learning, Victoria Radido, who led on the production, said:

‘Our Second Year Musical Theatre students have finished the year with an exceptional performance of The Addams Family. They have developed so much over the last two years and we are incredibly proud of each and every one of them. They are a talented bunch and I have no doubt we will see them on screen or on stage in the future!’
