Barton Peveril’s Beauty and the Beast

The Barton Peveril Sixth Form College cast of Beauty and the Beast.

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College students performed in their sell-out rendition of Disney’s classic tale Beauty and the Beast in the College’s Rose Theatre across three performances on 1st and 2nd July 2022.

The cast, which comprised of students across the College, performed to local residents, friends, family, and pupils from local schools in the extensively remodelled Rose Theatre.

Amongst the audience was actor and producer Brooke Tansley, who played the lead role of Belle in the production of the musical on New York’s Broadway.

The musical centres around Belle, a beautiful young woman, agrees to live with the Beast in exchange for the return of her abducted father. Soon, Belle discovers that her hideous captor is actually an enchanted prince.

“Amazing to be a part of!”

Sam Ellyatt, left, playing Beast.

Speaking on the production, student Sam Ellyatt, who played Beast, said:

“Our college production of Beauty and the Beast has been amazing to be a part of! We’ve been rehearsing since September and we are so excited to be opening our show to audiences soon. Playing ‘The Beast’ has been a fantastic opportunity within this Disney classic, all with brilliant costumes being used throughout the whole cast!!”

Barton Peveril Director of Performing Arts, Anneka Wass, said:

“This production was open to all students at Barton, so we had the opportunity to create a performance with students from lots of different subjects, who had never been in a full scale musical before. It was such a joy to see this all come to life on stage with a cast of over 70 performers, a full student orchestra and stage crew too. We are saying farewell to many of the cast as they are second years, and we are so proud to see how far they’ve progressed. They were so professional throughout the process and their performance was outstanding.”
