On Thursday 28th September, Barton Peveril Sixth Form College hosted its very own Freshers Fair, a stimulating event for fellow freshers to explore the different aspects of College life.
Students at the College were provided a chance to venture into the different clubs and societies lead by our students, listen to live music and support their health and wellbeing by participating in the outdoor activities such as badminton, table tennis and basketball.
To celebrate the different clubs and societies, the College had stalls including: The Christian Union, Student Health and Wellbeing Mentors, GIST, YES Hampshire, The Feminist Society, Barton Pride Society, Afro-Caribbean Society and much more.
In the previous year, the Hampshire-based College held its annual Festival of Culture. Students immersed themselves in cultures from other countries, enriching their understanding and appreciation of the differences in populations worldwide. The Festival of Culture extended as the Freshers’ Fair to widen the celebration of diversity.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator (ED&I), Kenzie Bragg reflects:
Freshers’ Fair 2023, is the first of many for Barton Peveril. This initial idea grew from our Festival of Culture, in which we wanted to widen the celebration of our many diverse students and staff. Lead by myself, ED&I Coordinator and ED&I Champion, Anisha, as well as our very own students! The event welcomes new students and our Second Years and was a big hit amongst all. All the staff, students, clubs and societies that made this event epic, we are so proud of everyone involved. Here is to Freshers’ Fair 2024!

ED&I Champion, Anisha Begum speaks on the event:
The atmosphere created and the buzz from the students was incredible, and it was so nice to see the students explore all the different clubs and societies the College has to offer! The Freshers’ Fair is a fantastic opportunity to expose students to the abundance of differences and cultures the students provide. I look forward to the next Freshers Fair!

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College will be celebrating Black History Month by hosting an event on Thursday 19th October 2023, an annual event that celebrates heritage, culture struggles, oppression and progression throughout history. The event will be led by our Afro-Caribbean Society and the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) team. Barton Peveril remains committed to equality and diversity and actively seeks to monitor, advance and encourage the active participation of all individuals and groups.
