Barton Peveril Biathlete Marcus Scullion.

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College student Marcus Scullion has won the British Modern Biathlon Championships, which took place on Sunday 24th November 2019 in Nottingham. The Barton Peveril student swam 200 meters and ran 1600 meters, competing against the best Biathletes in the country.

Scullion, who formerly attended Wildern School and represents Chapel Triathlon Club, qualified for the Championships for the second consecutive year after winning the South West Biathlon Championships on Sunday 13th October. The Barton Peveril Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) student qualified for the South West Biathlon Championships, which took place in Bath, following his success in last year’s British Championships.

“Excited to compete”

Speaking prior to the event, Marcus Scullion said:

“It was a tough race with some excellent competition and I am happy to have secured a qualifying place for this year’s British Championships. I am excited to compete in it again, this year.”

Barton Peveril Director of Sport, Luke Hampton, commented on the Barton Peveril student’s success:

“We’re very proud of Marcus’ continued success on the national stage. The TASS programme is brilliant, helping students like Marcus maintain a high level of sporting and academic success.”
