Barton Peveril Sixth Form College Student Jessica Gordon has been selected to represent Hampshire in the Senior Girls (Under 19) High Jump at the English Schools Athletics Association (ESAA) Championships, for the third consecutive year.

The ESAA Championships is the 4th largest athletics event in the world and will take place in Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium on 12th and 13th July, with track and field athletes representing regions from across the country.

The former Applemore College student will compete in the High Jump again, having already participated in the Championships the previous two years and being selected from a large pool of athletes who compete throughout Hampshire.

Talented Barton Peveril Athlete

Speaking on her selection to represent Hampshire, Jessica Gordon said:

“I’m really pleased that I have been given the opportunity to compete at English Schools for the third year. This year, I feel much more confident in my jumping, clearing 1.70m multiple times puts me in a good place for the competition in July, where I hope to come in the top eight.”

Barton Peveril Director of Sport Luke Hampton commented on the student’s success:

“Jess has done incredibly well to be selected for such a competitive team, three years in a row. She’s a very talented athlete and we look forward to seeing how she gets on at this Championship and in her future sporting career.”
