Barton Peveril’s Regional Swimming Champions

Barton Peveril are Association of Colleges Regional Winners

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College Swim Teams have won the Association of Colleges (AoC) South East Swimming Competition. Both the Men’s and Women’s Swim Teams competed in the event, at the Mountbatten Centre on Friday 22nd November 2019, winning 11 out of 18 races to win the Regional Shield.

The Barton Peveril Teams beat a number of local Colleges to be crowned regional champions, facing students from Bexhill College, Peter Symonds College, Farnborough College, Itchen Sixth Form College, Woking College, Reigate College, Queen Mary’s College, Havant & South Downs College, and Richard Taunton Sixth Form College.

Speaking on their victory, former Swanmore College and Women’s Swim Team athlete Leah Cook said:

“It was a lovely atmosphere when we found out everyone’s effort in the competition had put us into first place, the teamwork and cheering on persuaded everyone to perform their best.”

Wildern School alumni and Barton Peveril student Marcus Scullion, who also recently won the British Modern Biathlon Championships, also commented on the win:

“We all did well and collectively won many events. It’s great to get some competition in for the College and come away with a good result.”

Barton Peveril Director of Sport, Luke Hampton, praised both teams for their efforts:

“Our students represented Barton Peveril brilliantly at this event, showcasing their effort and determination to win this regional competition. They should all be proud of their continued success in and out of their sport.”
