Runner Up

Current Barton Peveril student Donel Mangena was the runner up on this year’s The Voice.
The 16 year old, who previously attended St. George Catholic College in Southampton, impressed both the judges and viewers throughout the competition. Donel made his first appearance in the ‘Blind Audition’ and made national headlines after his Grandmother took to the stage to celebrate her Grandson’s success.
Donel made it through both the ‘Battle’ and ‘Knockout’ rounds easily, relying on the support from his mentor will.i.am. The Barton Peveril student’s success continued when his progression in the competition was based on the public vote. Donel stunned viewers with his energetic performance in the semi-final, earning their vote and a place in the final on Saturday 7th April 2018.
Principal’s Praise
Speaking on the success of this student, Barton Peveril Principal Jonathan Prest said:
“Donel has had a great run in ‘The Voice’ and whilst he will obviously be disappointed not to win, everyone here at Barton Peveril wants to congratulate him on an amazing achievement to get so far. He is a very talented performer and I have no doubt there is a brilliant future for him in the Music Industry. Donel is a truly pleasant and talented young man both on stage and at college.”

To add to his success, Donel has been invited to perform for Her Majesty The Queen’s 92nd birthday in an event at the Royal Albert Hall on 21st April. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for this gifted student.
