Double Triumph: 2024 British Informatics Olympiad

Two Barton Peveril Sixth Form College students have excelled this year, placing in the final of the British Informatics Olympiad (BIO) held at Trinity College, University of Cambridge.

The British Informatics Olympiad is an annual computer programming competition. It is notoriously challenging and gives students a chance to test their problem-solving skills and apply their knowledge of programming. Every year, only the top 15 people in the whole country make it to the finals.

Former Romsey School student and two-time finalist Garam Lee has secured a place to compete in the final for the International Olympiad in Informatics team.

Abigail Watson, formerly of Hounsdown School has made it to the final to compete for a place on the European Girls’ Olympiad Informatics team. This is the first year the girls’ team has been selected this way.

Teacher of Computer Science and Engineering Enrichment, Isabel Culmer:

I’d like to offer them both a huge congratulations for getting this far and Good Luck in the finals in April.
