Barton Peveril’s A Level mathematicians achieved an impressive eight gold, 18 silver and 14 bronze awards in the UK Mathematics Trust Senior Maths Challenge.
High fliers Jowan Atkinson, Tabitha Sparks, Dominic Carey and Curtis Clement went on to represent Barton Peveril in the regional heat of the team competition, coming a very close second after conceding just one point to winners Portsmouth Grammar School. Third place went to Peter Symonds College.
More than 81,000 students took part in the national event which tests mathematical, communication and teamwork skills. Gold accolades are awarded to the top 10% of entrants with Matthew Collins, Chris Thomas, Tamsin Newlove and Jack Priestley joining team members on the maths department’s roll of honour.
The Senior Team Mathematics Challenge is organised by the Further Mathematics Support Programme in partnership with the UK Mathematics Trust.
