A group of vocational Sport students acted as umpires for Hampshire County Council’s Over 65s tennis tournament.
The annual Ping Pong Event was organised by the council’s Older People’s Wellbeing Team and offered coaching sessions to improve skills as well as an opportunity to see top county players in action. There were singles competitions for the over-65 and over-75 age groups, the finals of which were umpired by Barton Peveril students.
Exercise is one of the most important factors for staying independent and the benefits of table tennis are well recognised as an event everyone can take part in. Our students are pictured with the Mayor of Eastleigh, Cllr Tony Noyce, who presented them with certificates at the end of the day.
