Barton Peveril’s Youth Dance Company had a unique opportunity to work with Belgium-based dance company, Retina, and perform to a packed auditorium at The Point, Eastleigh.
Renowned for its physically vibrant and ambitious contemporary work under the artistic direction of Filip Van Huffel, Retina has firmly established itself as a company that enables other dancers – both professionals and enthusiasts – to excel in process and performance.
Professional dancers Erin Harty and Steven Martin spent two days in college working with first and second year students. Together they created Wired, a piece performed as a curtain raiser to the sell-out touring production, Layers of Skin, which also featured Barton Peveril dancers Sophie Riley and Michelle Horton.
Following the residency, Barton Peveril Youth Dance Company’s work has been submitted to Youth Dance England, the national organisation that champions excellence in dance for young people.
