Barton Peveril Student Entrepreneurs deliver their pitch to the dragons in What’s The Big Idea? 2023

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College hosted its third annual entrepreneurial showcase, What’s The Big Idea? On Friday 9th December 2023. 

Amidst an atmosphere of innovation and ambition, students from the Hampshire-based college took centre stage in a Dragon’s Den-style competition. Moreover, What’s the Big Idea? Provides a platform for these aspiring entrepreneurs to present their innovative business concepts to a distinguished panel of judges.

The participants, comprising students who had either established their own ventures or harboured promising business ideas, vied for the coveted monetary prize and the prospect of mentorship to propel their ventures forward.

Teacher of Business, Donna Bennett enthused:

In our recent entrepreneurial competition What’s The Big Idea, innovation took centre stage. Brilliant minds presented business ideas with precision and compelling presentations. The entrepreneurial ability and spirit of our students blow me away every year when we run this competition. I am so proud of our students… They are the business owners of the future!

The following students who successfully won over the dragons are:

  • Overall winner, Aimee Burrell, Utilis’ – An app that reduces food waste 
  • Runner Up, Ridley Cooper, Westrow Gardening 
  • Best Pitch, Lucas Keates, Fibonnachi – Photos on the go

The top three winners were rewarded with business mentorship and a monetary prize of £100 towards their business venture.

What’s the Big Idea? Not only showcased the College’s commitment to nurturing business talent but also demonstrated its dedication to empowering students to transform their ideas into tangible, successful enterprises.
