Unity 101 Radio, a beacon of community engagement, celebrated its 18th Awards Evening on Friday 5th January, honouring volunteers and highlighting outstanding community projects undertaken throughout the previous year.

The event, marked by a showcase of local talent, also shone a spotlight on the remarkable achievements of Barton Peveril Sixth Form College student Ruth Miller. The highlight of the evening was the acknowledgement of Ruth Miller, recipient of the coveted award for her unwavering dedication to radio broadcasting through the Q-XTRA programme.

The College’s Q-XTRA programme encourages students to seek out experiences that maintain their health, contribute to the community, develop employability and enhance skills and interests.

Former student of Swanmore College, Miller shows that her exceptional commitment and hard work were evident in her contributions to various group shows and beyond, making her a stellar example of a radio student par excellence.

Unity 101 continues to be a hub for recognising and celebrating the collaborative efforts that make a positive impact on the community. The 18th Awards evening underscored the power of unity and showcased the immense talent that thrives within local networks
