Women’s Football Victory

On Thursday 21st March, the Barton Peveril Women’s Football Team demonstrated their skills in an intense 90-minute game. The team secured victory against Itchen College in a closely-fought match that concluded with a penalty shootout.

The match began with Itchen Sixth Form College taking an early lead with a penalty, making it 1-0. However, the Women’s Football Team quickly levelled the score as first year student Mia Hammick scored a goal five minutes later, levelling the score to 1-1 and setting the stage for an intense game.

First year student Praise Petrache scored a crucial goal late in the second half, putting her team ahead 2-1. However, Itchen managed to equalize in the last minutes of the game.

With the score tied at the end of regulation time, the match proceeded to a penalty shootout. Imani Tahsin’s impressive goalkeeping skills shone as the second year student saved three penalty attempts from the opposition, providing a crucial advantage to her team. Second year student Meredith Pake sealed the victory with the final penalty shot, securing the win for the Women’s Football Team in the shootout.
