Development and Support
Our teaching and support staff are employed on contracts based on the guidance of the Sixth Form College Association.
The College invests heavily in staff development. Staff members can request to complete CPD in line with their professional practice. This helps to keep skills and knowledge up to date, become more creative in tackling new challenges, and is beneficial for mental wellbeing and making advancements in future career plans.
Working at Barton Peveril
There is a weekly training and development meeting on Mondays at 8:45 for 1.5 hours for teams. During this meeting teachers work together on aspects of teaching and learning and support staff use this to develop skills and plan and share information.
We retain very close contact with our partner sixth form colleges through The Wessex Group of Sixth Form Colleges (a regional group), and The Sixth Form Colleges Association (a national organisation) which organise subject panels; staff development; NQT training; leadership training programmes etc.
