Barton Peveril is delighted to announce it has been selected as one of eight venues to host the Colourism Exhibition 2025. The display, which features the photography of artist Nosa Malcolm, aims to spark vital conversations on the complex and often overlooked issue of colourism. Students will have the opportunity to explore the exhibition in the new Student Support Hub, located in the Hampshire building.
Founder and Director of Black History Month South and prominent Race and Diversity Consultant, Don John commented: “By displaying these images, we hope it stimulates conversations about the implications of making judgements and values about individuals.”

Nosa Malcom added, “The imagery celebrates each individual as well as tackling the theme of colorism. It’s really important to capture them in the best way possible to showcase their confidence and who they are.”

ED&I Coordinator and Subject Lead of Musical Theatre, Lisa Fernandez-Adams commented “I am absolutely delighted that we will be one of eight selected venues to be hosting the Colourism Exhibition 2025. Building on our relationship with Don John has allowed us to bring this highly impactful exhibition directly to our community. We are grateful to feature this work at Barton Peveril. It is a clear reflection of our commitment to creating a truly diverse and inclusive college community. By providing a platform for difficult but necessary conversations, we hope to broaden our students’ understanding of race and identity.”
