Barton Peveril Sixth Form College is incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of second year student, Cameron Jacobs, who ran the London Marathon barefoot, raising over £7,500 for Orchestras for All (OFA) as well as achieving a Guinness World Record for the Youngest Barefoot Marathon.
Cameron, who is 18 years old and has ADHD, Autism and Tourette’s, took on the 26.2-mile challenge to support the charity that has been a significant part of his life. The Violin Channel reports that Cameron became a member of the National Orchestra for All (NOFA) when he was 11 years old. The organisation provided him with invaluable opportunities and a supportive environment. Orchestras for All is a national youth music charity that breaks down barriers to give young people the life-changing experience of making music together.
Cameron said:
My achievement is amazing, and so thrilled that I have accomplished what I set out to do. It’s a pretty surreal experience.
Running the marathon barefoot added an extra layer of difficulty to Cameron’s already impressive feat. Salisbury Journal notes he aimed to be the youngest person ever to achieve this. His remarkable efforts highlight his dedication to both the charity and his own personal challenge.
Principal Rob Temple said:
Cameron completing the London Marathon barefoot in order to raise money for a community service he feels passionately about is very impressive. He is a most inspiring example of what young people can achieve for themselves and for others – and we look forward to hearing of his future record breaking successes!
