With her sights set on the future, Ivi is eager to pursue her passion for architecture at the University of Liverpool, where she hopes to develop her creative talents further and contribute to innovative design.
The transition from secondary school to college can be both exciting and challenging. For many students, it marks a significant step towards independence and self-discovery.
Ivi Zhelyazkova, former Bitterne Park student, shares their experience with us: “One of the best parts of college has been making new friends and becoming more independent. Managing my own time has been a great experience. College has given me the opportunity to grow as an individual and meet amazing people along the way.”
In Graphic Communication, Ivi is developing a vibrant campaign to promote Bulgarian tourism, honing her digital skills while exploring a topic close to her heart. “I love that I can combine my love for art and travel in this project,” she shares. “I’m also experimenting with different graphic styles, which is really exciting.”
Her Fine Art studies allow for a deeper dive into Bulgarian culture, where she’s tracing her family roots and expressing her heritage through various mediums. “While I’ve tried new techniques like paper cutting and sculpting, I’m most drawn to digital art and drawing,” Ivi explains. “It’s great that we’re encouraged to explore what we’re most passionate about.“
To complement her artistic pursuits, Ivi is also studying French. “It’s fascinating to see how language and culture intertwine,” she says. “We’re studying French film and literature, which has opened my eyes to a whole new world of creative expression.“
Ivi’s dedication extends beyond the classroom. As a member of the Art Aspire programme, she’s building a strong portfolio and preparing for university applications.
“I’m hoping to attend university to study architecture. I’m excited to see where my path takes me, and I’m grateful for the skills and experiences Barton Peveril has given me to prepare for the next step.
If I could give one piece of advice to a prospective student, it would be to work hard but also enjoy the experience. College is a time to work hard, learn and grow, but it’s also important to have fun and make memories with new friends.”
