What are your plans for when you leave Barton Peveril?

“I plan to go and study Chemical Engineering via Natural Sciences at Cambridge or Bath University. After completing my degree I hope to either go into finance or to work on opening/starting up my own company after working in the chemical engineering industry for a while. Barton has helped me receive an offer from the University of Cambridge through its aspire scheme, I have been helped with my personal statement, mock interviews and also interview question help at lunchtimes. I received a lot of support from my tutor, Shoonagh Hubble.”

What do you think you have gained from your studies?

“I have not only gained the opportunity to sit A-levels but I am fascinated by some of my subjects. Chemistry for example was not my first choice subject however I have taken to finding it increasingly interesting and in touch with the world around us. My teachers are always prepared to answer questions and are always around at lunchtimes if any extra help is needed.”

How would you describe the College to a student thinking of coming here?

“It’s the perfect step-up from school. With the right balance of independence and support you can take control of your education at your own pace with help only ever an email away. I would recommend Barton to potential students as I feel it is calm and less daunting than other colleges, however Barton still provide the drive and opportunities that can allow you to succeed.”
