What influenced your decision to come to Barton Peveril?
“Having attended Open Evenings and a Taster Day, I was confident that Barton Peveril was the right place for me. These events really helped me to get a flavour of life at Barton Peveril and offered a fantastic opportunity to talk to staff and students about the college and courses. I am so pleased I made the decision to come to Barton. My teachers here have both challenged and supported me to reach my full potential and they share my aspirations for success”
What do you particularly enjoy about being a student at Barton Peveril?
“I love being a student at Barton Peveril. My lessons are well organised, the teachers are good and there is a positive learning environment. When I need help with work, or support of any kind, my teachers are always approachable and happy to help me. Through the Aspire programme I have had the opportunity to attend a variety of talks, covering a diverse range of topics and careers. The Aspire programme has also advised me how to apply to university and how to write a good personal statement.”
Which enrichment opportunities have to undertaken at College?
“Through the Q-XTRA programme, I have trained to become a student wellbeing mentor in order to help and support other students. For some, the transition from secondary school to college can be a little daunting and finding your way around, making new friends and planning and organising private study time may be tricky at first. If students are struggling with this, they can book an appointment to meet with and chat to one of the student mentors – it can be really helpful to talk things through with another student of a similar age!”
