The Big Barton Give Back Day 2025

The Big Barton Give Back Day, 8th May 10:30 – 12:45pm

The Big Barton Give Back Day and Sustainability Fair is back!

The event has been created to inspire and involve our college community in sustainability-focused initiatives while offering engaging opportunities to give back, recycle, and make a positive impact. Parents are encouraged to support the event by helping their students with donations.

Donation Drop-Offs:
Students can bring clothes and entertainment items ahead of the event!

  • Clothes donations can be brought to the Progress Zone from 29th April 29th to 1st May.
  • Entertainment items (such as books, board games, vinyl or DVDs) can be dropped off at the Media Technicians’ Office also from 29th April.

Here’s what you can look forward to at the event:

  • Food Book Donations: Students can bring in non-perishable food items or recipe books to support those in need. Parents can help by contributing donations from home. The tutor group with the most donations will win a prize!
  • Clothes Swap: Refresh your wardrobe sustainably by swapping quality, vintage, reusable, and recyclable clothes.
  • Tech and Mobile Phone Recycling: Dispose of your old or out-of-date technology responsibly at our dedicated donation stations.
  • Refillable Pop-Up Shop: Stock up on everyday essentials in an eco-friendly way, with a pop-up shop hosted by Lemon and Jinja (Romsey) for staff and students.
  • Sustainable Art: Discover stunning art made from sustainable materials and learn how creativity can contribute to eco-conscious living.
  • Sustainable Food Options: Enjoy delicious, environmentally friendly food options available during the event.
  • Bike Repair and Education: Get tips on bike maintenance and learn how to keep your ride sustainable.
  • Entertainment Swaps and Sales: Trade or purchase pre-loved entertainment items, with proceeds donated to charity.
  • Charity and Organization Representation: Learn more about how you can contribute to a sustainable future with representatives from charities like Greenpeace and STEM Unity.

The Big Barton Give Back Day is an opportunity for students to take action for the planet, connect with peers, and make sustainability a shared college priority. Parents, your involvement is key—please consider helping with food, clothes, or tech donations to ensure the event’s success.

We look forward to seeing everyone there as we give back to our community and learn about sustainability.
