Student Success Stories

Thriving Young Writer

Lauren Schneider formerly of Cams Hill School

Lauren Schneider, a talented first-year student with a passion for words, recently achieved a place in the Solstice Young Writer’s Prize 2024 for her amazing story about nature.

Lauren, who studies Drama and Theatre, English Literature, and English Language, was inspired to enter the competition through her Creative Writing Q-XTRA. “I’d never really written a short story before,” she says, “but the Q-XTRA helped me experiment with different styles and find my voice. The College has so many different Q-XTRAs to get involved with that are worth it because you can gain experience and more opportunities.”

Lauren’s entry impressed the judges with its creativity and unique perspective. “I was so shocked when I found out I’d won,” she says. “It’s really encouraging to know that my writing resonates with people.“

So, what’s next for this rising literary star? “I’m hoping to study Creative Writing and English at university,” Lauren shares. “My dream is to become an author and playwright.“
