Student Success Stories

Young Keynote Speaker

Barton Peveril’s Zion Brown, an exceptional Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) student, delivered a compelling keynote speech at the University of Southampton EPQ Teachers Conference.

At just 17 years old, Zion spoke to a conference room full of post-16 educators, offering invaluable insights that are expected to be instrumental in shaping the future of EPQ programmes. The conference, organised by Katrina Lueddeke and her team, was described as a “hugely insightful day,” encouraging inspiring discussions around theory of change, collaboration, and quality improvement.

The EPQ is designed to help students develop vital skills such as independent research, critical thinking, problem-solving, and time management – qualities essential for further education and the professional world. Zion’s presentation served as a powerful testament to the effectiveness of the EPQ in preparing students for the demands of their future pathways.
